Instead of relying uniquely on your own radio link, exploit a worldwide, preexisting, fast, growing, affordable network of hundreds of thousands antennas: 4G Internet.
4Gmetry streams the telemetry (MavLink) over 4G Internet to your remote control station (e.g: Mission Planner). In this way you can control and track your drone/vehicle from an unlimited distance.
4Gmetry supports fallback to HSDPA, 3G, GPRS and even WiFi; it’s all up to the USB-plugged-in connectivity dongle(s).

Streaming an H.264 video via 4G is as natural as uncommenting a gstreamer line of code, compatible with all h264 cameras, including Logitech C920 w/ 1080p Zeiss Lens.
When 4G bandwidth is not available, you may want to stream via WiFi. This is as simple as replacing your 4G Dongle with a WiFi antenna, leaving unaltered the same IP-based logic.

Developers can enjoy a pre-configured environment. With OpenVPN you can easily add a security layer (SSL) to your telemetry and easily access to your veihcle via SSH. On the resources page you’ll find amazing OpenCV Python apps and IR beacons targeting.
